As well as boasting three castles, fabulous architecture, museums and some mighty fine restaurants, Kamnik has another trick up its sleeve. It is also the country’s micro-brewing capital and currently has four main producers; Barut Brewing and Blending, Maister Brewery, Pivovarna Menin'c and Pivovarna Mali Grad. As the saying goes, ‘there must be something in the water’, and that’s certainly true in this instance. It seems Kamnik’s water has the perfect mineral content for brewing beer. You can sample their creations at many of the town’s bars and restaurants, or taking a tour of one of the breweries is also a fun and interesting afternoon out.
