Founded in 2006, Cantina Vineyard in the tiny village of Mozów may be a 21st century winery, but it certainly doesn't lack Lubuskie traditions. Guests arriving on site are greeted by a fantastic wooden sculpture of a grape-bearing Saint Urban I, the patron saint of vineyards and plentiful harvest, coupled with an antique oval oak barrel with a capacity of 3,510 litres. The latter of these two gatekeepers was in use around the turn of the 19th and 20th century in the former winery of Heinrich Raetsch in Zielona Góra, and, most notably, is now listed on the register of regional historical monuments.
The vineyard itself, run by the power couple of Karolina and Mariusz, who have been extremely proactive in promoting Lubuskie winegrowing traditions in other regions of Poland. This passion has, of course, resulted in a rather successful range of wines that guests can experience through a range of activities on offer. Winery tours and tasting sessions are currently priced at 35zl per head, including a small snack with around 4 different wines to sample. Larger groups have the option of receiving further catering, but should enquire when making a reservation. From September 2021, visitors have the option of staying overnight on site and taking in more of the surroundings. Lectures on the revived viticultural traditions of the region, viticulture and wine fermentation are also frequently organised, as well as workshops and training, and occasional and integration events. Children, whilst being a few years short of legally appreciating the whole affair, will be thrilled by the winery's beautiful pony named Marian, who is rumoured to be running for mare in Mozów's next election...
