Located in the seldom visited district of Dębniki, this is the small, modest apartment where Karol Wojtyła moved with his father in 1938, as a young man just entering university. After his father's passing in 1941, Karol Jr. continued to live here until 1944 when he took up a life in the Catholic Church in earnest. Two rooms (the kitchen and bedroom) are open for visitors, and arranged as they were when the two men lived here. This free branch of the Archdiocesan Museum is unique from other museums in that it's located in an inhabited tenement building, which makes the experience feel all the more authentic. Opening hours are limited, but tours (Polish only) can be arranged at any time if you call two days in advance.
