Getting to Tyniec

Getting to Tyniec is half the fun. It’s only about ten kilometres from the city-centre and is easily accessible by car, bus, bike, or even on foot (if you have the 2hrs to spare). To walk or cycle, simply cross over the Wisła via the Dębnicki or Grunwaldzki bridges to the side opposite Wawel and follow the paths along the river west. There are no steep grades or even hills, so it should be a pleasant and easy trip. If the trip there wears you out, you can always catch the bus on your way back to the centre.

By Bike:

Certainly the best way to get to Tyniec, depending on the condition of you and your bicycle the trip takes about 45mins. For bike hire see the listings in our Leisure section. One suggestion is to contact Cruising Kraków who organise bike tours to Tyniec during the warm season.

By Boat:

The most relaxing and picturesque way to travel to Tyniec is via boat, but the journey takes 75-90mins. Most of the river cruise operators we list on our website offer trips to Tyniec; browse our listings for more info or contact providers directly to arrange trips and enquire about pricing. From May to September the Kraków Water Tram heads to Tyniec once a day from Wawel at 10:25; the trip takes 1hr 25mins and costs 35/30zł.

By Public Transport:

From the centre of Krakow take a tram to 'Most Grunwaldzki' and then hop on bus 112 in the direction of 'Tyniec Kamieniołom;' get off at the 'Tyniec' stop and the Abbey entrance is only 650 metres away. Buses run every 20mins with a journey time of less than 30mins.

By Taxi:

A more direct and less energetic way to reach Tyniec Abbey is by taxi and you should expect to pay around 60zł for the 20min journey.
