Bagelmama

First opening back in 2001, Bagelmama was the first to bring the NYC deli staple back to the city where it's speculated that the doughy ring was invented all those years ago; and ironically, right across from Poland's oldest synagogue, no less. Inside this big, bright cafe you're likely to meet Nava, the Yankee owner, as he scurries about filling orders, refilling coffees and chatting with customers. A variety of fresh bagels (yes, they have 'Everything' bagels!) come with the toppings of your choice (options include sun-dried tomato cream cheese, hummus, alfalfa sprouts, smoked salmon), or go with one of their signature bagel sandwiches, including the essential egg, bacon and cheddar, or the pastrami Reuben. They also offer lunches, as well as their own ice cream, drip coffee, cold brew coffee, iced tea and lemonade - earning this place our steadfast stamp of approval.
