Elka Cableway hero image

One of the most unique joys of Silesia Park is the 'Elka' Cableway - a historic lift that transports passengers from one side of the park to the other, while offering panoramic birds-eye views. First opened in 1967, the cableway was originally triangular with three stations that connected the amusement park to the planetarium to the football stadium. After a break in operations, two of these lines have been modernised and are back in use, while work is underway to modernise the cableway station at Silesia Stadium in order to reopen the final connection between the planetarium and the stadium.
Get above the treeline for great views from the Elka Cableway.

Consisting of two types of carriages - four-person open chair lifts, and 8-person enclosed gondola lifts (take your pick) - the cableway offers an attractive alternative to striding around the vast expanses of the park on foot, though it should be noted that it isn't exactly a timesaver. While the trip from Legendia to Silesia Stadium is about 20mins, the cableway journey between Legendia and the Planetarium is a bit shorter and actually more useful as shortcut, since the planetarium is deep in the park and there aren't as many attractions en route. The journey between Legendia and the Planetarium, also take you over the Zoo for a cool perspective on some of the park's animal enclosures. With such great views, there's no shame in taking the lazy option. Note that the last journey of the day leaves 15 mins before closure.
