Immediately behind the Stary Malbork hotel in a small grassy park stands a small stone celebrating the Białystok-born polyglot, eye doctor and inventor of Esperanto, Ludwik Zamenhof (1859-1917). The rather lacklustre memorial is surrounded by a group of small trees, planted by Esperanto aficionados from around the world.
